Pride is not good for me.
Pride will bring me down:
A man’s pride shall bring him low: but honour shall uphold the humble in spirit. (Proverbs 29:23 KJV)
Pride will keep me from seeking God:
The wicked, through the pride of his countenance, will not seek after God: God is not in all his thoughts. (Psalm 10:4 KJV)
Pride brings destruction:
Pride goeth before destruction, and an haughty spirit before a fall. (Proverbs 16:18 KJV)
Pride goes hand in hand with foolishness:
In the mouth of the foolish is a rod of pride: but the lips of the wise shall preserve them. (Proverbs 14:3 KJV)
Pride is deceitful and invites the wrath of God:
The pride of thine heart hath deceived thee, thou that dwellest in the clefts of the rock, whose habitation is high; that saith in his heart, Who shall bring me down to the ground? Though thou exalt thyself as the eagle, and though thou set thy nest among the stars, thence will I bring thee down, saith the Lord. (Obadiah 1:3-4 KJV)
God hates pride:
The fear of the Lord is to hate evil: pride, and arrogancy, and the evil way, and the froward mouth, do I hate. (Proverbs 8:13 KJV)
Separation from God? Foolishness? Destruction? Wrath of God? Wickedness? God hates it?
Nah, I’m good. I’ll pass.
For whosoever exalteth himself shall be abased; and he that humbleth himself shall be exalted. (Luke 14:11 KJV)
But he giveth more grace. Wherefore he saith, God resisteth the proud, but giveth grace unto the humble. (James 4:6 KJV)
Humble yourselves in the sight of the Lord, and he shall lift you up. (James 4:10 KJV)
Humble yourselves therefore under the mighty hand of God, that he may exalt you in due time: (1 Peter 5:6 KJV)
The fear of the Lord is the instruction of wisdom; and before honour is humility. (Proverbs 15:33 KJV)
Riches, more honor and life:
By humility and the fear of the Lord are riches, and honour, and life. (Proverbs: 22:4 KJV)
All of this and none of it comes from pride.
I’ll take humility and all that comes with it.
I am proud of nothing.
I give God all the honor, glory and praise.
